i encounted this problem before and the parts store can tell you what direction of pump you have and if you are going to buy a new one which one to get they also make a reverse fan to match from jegs the pump you are going to buy there # is 1-800 - 345 - 4545 push 4 ask for a tech they are open 24 7 and pretty knowledgeable.
good luck ben512v
oh you can run the heater hose from the intake manifold or the water pump i had to run mine from the intake to the heater core then back out to the radiator and put in a 180 thermastat and no more problems with over heating also note if the motor is out of time just a hair i will cause the motor to over heat as well . time it with the vaccum advance off btdc or before top dead center. the vaccum advance should have very little vaccum until it is reved up . then the vaccum advancees the distributor.you want a good hei system with a blue spark on the spark plugs check with an old plug and have someone turn the engine over and ground the plug and have someone turn the engine over if its yellow spark check your electrical components or hei system. good fuel and spark equals a good running motor and make sure the radiator isnt plugged and the system is clean try hooking up a water hose to the heater hose with the car running and clean out the system or motor and thermasts as well. you may want to remove the thermastat first. good luck ......

As a general rule,v belts are standard rotation and serp belts are reverse rotation.
