swapping powertrain from k10 pickup to k5 blazer
if anyone can give me a for sure answer if i can take motor trans transfercase and driveshafts from my 86k10 pickup and swap it into a 79k5 blazer with ease i know motor mounts will be the same just not sure about drive shaft length
|
i think it depends on your bed length. i did it the other way around and swapped all the stuff out of my k5 blazer into my k30 with a 8 foot bed so not sure about a 6 foot bed. everything was exactly the same except the rear driveshaft. only good thing is your driveshaft will probably be longer so you can at least have it cut down to fit. but axles engine, trans all that stuff will fit right in.
another minor problem you might run into is the crossmember bolting up. if the trucks had different drive trains you may just have to drill new holes for the crossmember to bolt in, really aint that big of deal though |
That's kinda what I was figuring out that the blazer driveshaft will spline into my transfercase. Most everything seems the same but we will see this week thank you

stock 79 probably had a fixed yoke NP203 while the 86 would have a NP208, depending on if it was a automatic or manual.

It was auto had a splined drive shaft in the rear

I have everything swapped in only thing I couldn't use from my 86 was the drive shaft but I had the one from the blazer it splined in both trucks had np208 transfercase had to use mine though because of the shaft on the transmission
