Transfer case only does 2H

I own a 1994 Blazer 1500, 5.7, V8. Manual transfer case shifter.
I can drive in 2H as if nothings there. When I go to shift into 4H or 4L, it grinds out. Can someone please help me out??

have you taken out the transfer latley? maybe the linkage is was in the wrong position when put back together

No, I havent touched it. However, I have heard that once or twice. I will be cheching in the Haynes book.. thanx man
