transfer case questions

It's called a spindle lock nut socket. You can find it at just about any auto parts store for around $10. You can probably rent them too, but seeing that you'll use it so often you might as well have your own.

do you have the spicer 44 front axle or the corp 10? the dana 44 would cost about 69.50 to rebuiild using all Timken bearings and seals. i work at a parts plus lol and figured i'd give ya an idea of what your looking to spend. only question i have is does the front take 2 inner and outer sets or just one? if its just one divide that cost in half.

you dont need to take it apart. just look at the cover and you should be able to tell. the dana is more of a sharp turn cover and the corp is more of a smooth curve one. the dana 44 will also say 44 on the bottom right of the pumpkin on the front

Exactly as litterbug put it, no need for a breakdown, you can just look at the pumpkin and it'll tell you everything you need to know.
