Transmission change, Auto to Manual

Hi, I recently buy a 93 v8 350 Full size blazer, and the transmission its dead, it's a 4L60e, now I have the oportunity to change it for a SM465.

So here it comes my question, it will work on my Blazer???

I will thank any comment.

Regards from Chile.

It can be done, but you may need to get the ECU modified to keep it from complaining about the missing 4L60E, but if you were to find another like year fullsize truck, you could swap everything over.

Good point! The Sm465 its full "analog", so it will bring complications...

Any other model you can recomend???

Thanks

The ECU will complain about pretty much any manual transmission simply because of how much interaction it has with your current automatic.

I would say your best bet would be to find a donor truck with a manual from a similar year as yours and take it from there.

mmm Its hard to find my model dow here, another option it's "sacred" Ebay, and pay to bring it here...uff!!! That even sound expensive! haha

And what about the TH400??? could fit my Blazer?

Thanks again.

Your computer will not like any other tranny... It would probably be cheaper (and easier) in the long run to simply rebuild your current tranny.

Yes, it seems the best option at this momment its this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...BUCI%26otn%3D3

Plus the shipment it will cost near US$900, and here I just recive an offer of one Tahoe 94 transmission for US$1000...

what do you think about this transmission??? (the ebay one) Sounds good???

Regards from down under to the left.

Is your truck 2wd or 4wd?

mikeknuckey 07-12-2009 06:41 PM

It is 4wd

Then you need a 4wd transmission. A 2wd transmission will require a complete tear down to swap tail shafts for 4wd service.
