How much for the pair? D60's are very stong in the kingpin version, the down side is they are typically over a grand for just the front axle.
You'll need new u-joints all the way around and hopefully you will get the spring plates for both axles. Front brake lines need to be changed, rear are just fine as it. You need to run a 16" or bigger rims to clear the front calipers on that 60.
front u-joint is same as the half ton but the rear will require either a new yoke on the drive shaft or a Precision 447 conversion u-joint to adapt the 1/2 ton drive shaft to the 1350 joint on the 14bolt.

Only 275$ for the pair. The guy has a bunch out of 73-87 trucks and says the set he's sellin me will bolt right in to my k5. And ill keep that in mind about the wheel size, thanks. Are the conversions hard or expensive? I know a guy who could probably do it cheap.

*IF* he is selling you a kingpin D60 *AND* a 14bolt full floating axle for $275 that is an absolute steal.

You're looking for the kingpin cap on top of the knuckles:

Also look at the hubs, you need to make sure you are buying SRW hubs (Single Rear Wheel)... the DRW hubs are different and you'll have to spend $400 for new hubs.

Easy to tell, get out a tape measure and check the wms-wms distance. The SRW hubs will be 69.5" apart.

Check the wms-wms distance on the rear axle too. The typical SRW rear distance is 67". If the measurement is 70" then you've got a van axle and that is cool, because it will remove the stagger...

If everything checks out and they haven't been sitting in a field and need to be completely rebuilt go for it. Out here a stripped bare axle would go for $275.

Yep, 275 for both. The guy is pretty far away, so im going to ask him to measure all of this before I show up...he says they'll bolt right in but you know craigslist dealers...also workin on gettin a set of 35/12.5/16s but I cant find that tire size anywhere to get new rubber. The guy who I talked to about em claims theyre 16 inch rims but the only size I could find was on a 15 in. rim or 17 in. rim....

I would have him send you pictures. Cause that price ain't right... If he is into Chevy's then he knows the value of a decent Dana 60 front axle.

Can you send me a link to the CL ad?
If he's got 15 sets and he's selling that cheap then I'm going to buy them all and ship them to Oregon....

I don't see any front king pin D60's there, maybe the second axle in the pile but looks like a ball joint on the drivers side knuckle... You can see the big 14bolt in the back, cover in unmistakable. It looks a little narrow.

anyways, if you can get a 14bolt and a matching D44 for $300 I'd do that. Unless you're a wheeling maniac you don't really need the upgraded size of the 60.
