Exclamation Rear End Swap

Ive got 1993 Blazer.

I blew the rear pinion bearing finally after it being bad for a yr.

My Rear Is 10bolt 8.5ring w/ 3.42 gears

What vehicles can i pull another rear from.

Hollander told me basically any GM vehicle from 89-99 that is 4x4 with same production code, and same 10 bolt with 30 spline axles w/ 6 bolt pattern.

14 bolt you might need a different u joint. but you for sure will need different set of rims. 14 bolts are 8 lugs... unless you can find a 6lug semi floater

Exclamation Update:

Whell instead of buying a rear end i decided to rebuild mine.I used ring and pinon from 98 tahoe with 3.73 gears but had to use my carrier housing. My axles wouldnt fit the tahoe carrier.

Got it all put together and ran pretty good. Shifted into 4wheel low and kablam same thing again Rear end blew something. Got it Home and pulled the cover. Found out i somehow chewed the back side of some of the teeth on the pinion but everything else is fine.No scaring on ring or carrier. No teeth messed up on carrier or spider gears.

My question Is HOW THE F*** I DID THIS all over again!

Any help much appreciated on how this happened and to prevent it again. IM NOT LOOKING FOR A THREE PEET.

Is your front end 3.73 like you put in the rear or still 3.42 like in you original post? I would think that you would want them the same ratio.

Why would you put a 3.73 R&P into the rear when your sig says that you have 3.42's???

Before you do any more work on your truck, you have to determine what gears are in the front axle. If they are 3.42's as you have indicated, then you MUST replace the rear with 3.42's.

yes my truck came equipped with 3.42 gears. For the rear i put in 3.73. No i didnt change the front gears.I thought that i would be fine to switch the rear as long as i didnt use 4 wheel drive.

also when i engaged 4x4 my front didnt work anyways. bad actuator.

Well, you did shift it into 4LO right? Now why would you do such a thing if you knew that the gears were different? Sounds like your front diff actuator worked that time...
