Default ***NEW*** to me! Jimmy

Hello everyone, Well the time to part with my Blazer has come, not enough Stop signs in Illinois to keep a floor in it!! So I set out to find a rust free non-molested Blazer ZR2 to do a V8 swap on, that search didnt go so well!

Then my father calls me from Fl, his neighbor knows a guy selling a 4door 1996 Jimmy, rust free, minor front end damage from rear ending a truck with rear mounted spare tire taking out hood, grill and radiator. Not really what I wanted, its 4door and only 2wd but was soo clean and the price was right ($400) so I bought it.

My father replaced the core support, radiator and hood already from a junkyard 1996 Blazer but the grill and headlights were missing, Hood is in shop right now being painted with left over paint from when the truck was just recently painted. I seen a forum here about replacing grill/lights with 1998+ blazer ones (which look way better) but links were outdated, forum mentioned replacing the core support but didnt say why? Ive got a welder, drill and tap set! so anyone that has updated info on this it would be appreciated. Also my Jimmy is debadged so an aftermarket debadged 98+ blazer grill would be nice if anyone knows of one.

I'm also looking for Extreme style side skirts and rear bumper to match my front bumper.

Found this on ebay.

I have similar headlights from Spyder, but they aren't smoked on the front side of the lens. Very utilitarian.
Since I had factory fog lights, I opted to tint the turn signals myself, with a smoked vinyl. Been almost 4 years and still holding up great.

You are going to have to put in a 98 up rad support. The way the headlights mount is entirely different. If you had a 98 to look at and did a lot of measuring, cutting, fitting and welding, I supposed it would be possible to fab your own headlight mounts, but it would take way more time and effort than simply swapping in a 98 up support. One of the old posts should have the necessary wiring diagram to convert from single to dual lights.
