1985 K5 Crate Suggestion

1 Attachment(s)
I am looking to replace my stock 305 V8 with a new crate motor. I
want it to be a direct replacement. It is part time 4WD with 4:56 gearing on 35" tires and a 4 1/2 in lift. I'm just looking for something with more power that is more reliable. I'm not looking for power for powers sake but for
something that will work with my existing tranny and set up. I don't
tow alot. If I do it's a boat, toy hauler or small camper. I live in
Los Angeles and go to the snow. I do have some stricter parameters with California and smog limitations. Would love to step up to fuel injection unless I'm talked out of it. Does anyone know of someone in the Southern Cali area that can help? OR Do you have any suggestions?

pretty much any 350 or small block you buy you can use all your exsisting stuff. my first 350 had 305 monte carlo parts on it along with a bunch of other makes and models.

i swapped from a 305 to 350 and i think the only difference was the flywheel and starter everything else was the same.

i got a rebuilt 350 TBI in mine with Vortec heads, and it runs great but if you want performance go with a 383 Stroker motor for it

350 will give you better power than the 305 and better fuel than the 383 stroker.
I have no problems towing a 5,000 lb boat with my 350
