2003 Blazer xtreme Leaf spring helper question.
 

So I have an 03 blazer xtreme that I use for competing in the car audio circuit. I am looking to add a substantial amount of weight to it because I need a large (28) battery bank for the class I compete in.

So my question is, is there any difference in the regualr s10 blazers and the blazer xtremes besides it being lowered and having the body kit? and would a leaf spring helper kit for a regualr s10 blazer bolt on without issues?

Just get the air bag kit from summet. My dad has that set on his dmax and they hold a 25000 trailer up just fine. You can even go the cheap way and get the ones without an air pump. You have to pump them yourself but hey its really no biggie

Thanks man I appreciate the feedback. Unfortunately I already have the airlift helper bags on it but I don't like the way they make the truck ride and for some reason the brackets that came with the kit don't fit the frame properly (yes I made sure I got the right kit. triple checked the numbers before I sent the order out) so I had custom brackets made and they ended up failing on my way to Daytona last march. This is the reason I'm looking into springs. My other theory is its harder to break springs than it is to pop a bag. They seem cheaply made but that may just be me. Seriously man thanks for taking the time to try and help me out. I do appreciate it.

No problem man! But yeah if you have tryed the bags and they have failed, then yes you can go with more springs or add a leafs. But doing this normally will raise the truck. And i get the feeling that your looking for the low look

The add-a-leaf kit that is sold through JCWhitney will lift the back up about 1.5-2" and may help you out. It may be to your advantage to figure out how much of a load is going back there, then you can figure out the right amount of spring you need. If you figure out the weight, and then talk to a suspension company like Rough Country they can probably figure out what you need.

I'm not sure what air bags you had on the truck, but these are supposed to level up to 2000 pounds.

It's going to be roughly 1500lbs in there all the time over and behind the rear axle. I would like to keep the low look but I'll sacrifice it to make sure I'm able to haul the equipment wherever I need to go.

These are the bags that are on it now http://www.summitracing.com/parts/AIR-59535/ but Like I stated earlier they feel cheap, the brackets didn't mount to the frame properly, and the parts (U bolts, Nozzles, line) all felt like they were junk. I had to replace both plastic nozzles with brass before I got the bags together. They would just snap when putting the slightest amount of pressure on them to tighten them down.
