I often let mine turn at 5500 rpm. If i didnt trust it i wouldnt..

Was googling around for the engine weight and found this:Chevy Engine Guide
it lists the redline at 5000 rpm... but the max auto trans shift speed and fuel cut off at 5200 rpm (on a different comp and wanted the link for myself later too :D) |
I've read an article that is floating around on the web, it says that 7k is do able on a non balance shaft engine with a full roller valve train. I believe it was on a hot rod site talking about a 300 HP 4.3L v6 build. Pretty sure they achieved it, and discussed a few options for getting there.
