95 Blazer died while driving, now wont start!!
Use truck everyday and starts everytime. The other day was driving about 35-40 and truck died and hasnt started since. It sat for a couple days and almost started when i tried then it was back to the same crank with no start. I just got done replacing the fuel filter and it did the same thing. Also the fuel pump is twice as loud as it used to be every since it died. When I turn the key on I can hear the pump running but its louder than it used to be. What could it be? Any suggestions? Also when the truck died I didnt get any lights, loss of oil pressure, I checked fluids, etc. Its not a obvious issue just need some common blazer issues to troubleshoot. Thanks Zack.
Had to replace fuel pump a few months ago. BTW, running a tank empty is a bad thing. The fuel pump is liquid cooled. Run it dry a few times and you fry your pump.
Here is a diagnostic procedure.
Install fuel pressure gauge. On my 95 blazer, it is on the back of the engine to the right(drivers side). Looks like a big valve stem. Kind of a bugger to install.
Turn on ignition but do not crank. Note fuel pressure. If it stays around 65 psi and holds then fuel pump is ok. If it goes to 65 psi but falls perform the following test.
Get a pair of needle nose vise grips and get ready to pinch(not crush) fuel line forward of the fuel filter. Have assistant turn ignition but do not crank. Pinch fuel line and then look at fuel presure. if above 64 psi replace MFI. If fuel pressure falls, check for partially disconnected fuel pulse dampner or fuel pump. Gotta drop the tank for the latter 2.
If you have trouble pm me for more information. I have factory service manual for 95 blazer/s10 pickup with troubleshooting charts.
