ball looking thing under hood?

Ok can anyone tell me what the ball looking thing is thats attached to the hood in the back right corner of the the engine compartment, It had a vacuum line going to it that was broken to is just cut alittle off and hooked it back up. but i have no idea what it is lol

It is just a vacuum reserve tank. So that when the vacuum in the engine goes up and down, there is enough volume to run things during the low times.

If you plug the hose off the only real thing you might notice is during hard acceleration the heater control doors might flap to the default location then back when the vacuum improves. You fixed the leak in the hose by shortening it, as long as the round tank does not leak also you are good to go.

its just a vacuum reserve. without it you'll loose ac/heat flow etc on acceleration.

I found out the hard way lol
