Bastard year for blazers ?

I have had a couple of early Blazers many years ago. I'm looking to get another one. Is there a particular year I should avoid.

anything before 87,and 95.

stick with 4.3 if possible. once you find one,go ahead and replace the fuel pump (ac delco only!!!!) and lower intake manifolds.

done. enjoy it for years.

Funny - I have owned for about 15 years a 1984 4wd S10 blazer with a 2.8 and 5 sp standard trans - She has about 190 tho miles on her. All i've had too do to her besides brakes is a clutch and pressure plate - I'm old school so I do the standard maintance every 3tho miles - oil - filters ect. and when needed plugs - cap - rotor ect. And she gets a little over 28 mpg hiway

its not that they are bad, they are just getting old now,and parts are getting a little harder to find. Plus after 87 the 4.3 arrived and its just alot funner to drive.

I have a 2005 2dr 4.3l
While pretty popular in Canada , lots of online listing do not acknowledge it

To everyone who responded ( and so quickly ) , I THANK YOU. I should have been a little more specific. I'm not big on the baby ( S-10 ) blazers. I'm thinking of setting up another plow truck. The last Blazer I had ( sorry I can't remember what year ) had the small diesel and I was the best plow truck I ever had. Better than my various pick-me ups or tow trucks. Tough enough for small commercial lots and nimble enough for private d-ways. Sooo, my question should have eliminated S-10's. Any trannys, transfer cases, rears, etc. known to have problems for this application ? I thank you in advance for your help.

oohhh so the big ol boys lol.

Stick with 400 turbo,350 engine,a low gear, and call it done. 400's are some tough sob's.

biggest deal here is a stout trans, low end torque and tranny cooler.

the short wheel base of the full size works pretty good for plowing snow
I had a full size Bronco that I plowed with and it worked well in small commercial lots
Couldn't imagine using the huge quad cab p/u's

In this area the old full size Blazers are pretty scarce
Not sure you are going to get many options now a days
