Default black ball on hood

what is that black ball for on my under right side of the hood it has no wires on it or nothing there is a vacuum line under it with a screw in it and zap strap

lol mine has nothing connected to it and the vacuum thas i think goes there has a screw in it , whats it the name of it so i can look to buy a new one caz it has a crack in it

Should be a vacuum hose going to it but like said its a vacuum reservoir to help keep everything working properly in low vac situations.

if this was unplugged would it prevent my 4x4 from working?

If the vac line is unplugged and flopping around it creates a vac leak and will cause all kinds of problems.

Hmmm mine was unplugged and nothing changed when I plugged it back in? about 6 inches from where it plugs into the black ball there was a T running through the firewall with some wires... Anyway I connected it but I think I have a bd vacuum switch cause my actuator isnt getting vacuum, but my front axle is engaging. Just trying to pinpoint my 4x4 issue, thanks though
