Default Brake dust shields.

My are rusting out a starting to flake apart. Which is causing them to screech on the brake discs. I was wondering if they're that important or I could cut them off around the parking brake and be fine. I would rather not pull the axels to put on new ones.

they're there for a reason to help block dust/dirt or w/e from getting in the brakes. so it would depend on how much u were to cut out

As of right now I would be all but totally removing them. They're rusted to the point that I could pull the majority of them off by hand.
