Default CAI while mudding?

Is it bad if you do some wheeling to have a CAI? The little bit I go I always have some water and mud splashed up under the hood. Just wondering if this would be a problem.

I've got the K&N FIPK and have never had any water or mud splash up to the filter. I have had it come into the engine bay but never any problems with that either.
