Case of the Missing Bearing Roller.
 

I recently replaced my rear axle bearings and seals in my 2000 GMC Jimmy. When I pulled the l seal and bearing on the driver side I notice one of the rollers inside of the bearing housing was missing. I have no idea how that was possible. or for how long it has been missing.

The bearings seem to be locked into the housing. I used a bearing puller and had no issues. I have always thought there was a vibration I could not identity the source. This is a mystery that will never be solved. I did push a rag through the axle housing to make sure there was do debris inside the tube.

check inside and out in the grease or dirt/gunk. Sometimes they get loose in the cage and fall out upon removal, or depending on which way you pull the axle stick to the grease on the axle or now lay in the axle housing/tube. May even lay on the floor somewhere.
