It's not the first time I have seen that picture, but there isn't much information anywhere about that system. Looks way to complicated to be practical.

Patent was filed for in 1972. Did a little reading around the net. Seem`s this set-up was used on 4x4 vans.

Wow. Thats really different. Not too far out there tho. I'm sure ever axle company and gear guy in his basement are thinking up new ways to drive a vehicle. Whats not a fuel problem, could be solved by a drive problem.

Pretty neat. I would like to see how this performed in real world and 4x4 situations.

I did a bit of searching myself and found that a lot of them are from Iceland and were Chevy's Ford's. They were mostly used in Emergency vehicles, to keep them low so they aren't as top heavy like a full 4x4 van would be. Something to take a look at lol Clicky
