ehh. time for a plug change?
 

Wish i could find my camera. Ive had some NGK v powers for roughly 25kish miles.

I pulled a plug a few min ago for curiosity and it had a .40 gap. Base ring was black,strap was a tanish white. center electrode was rounded on the corners closest to the strap. Not a whole lot of "v cut" anymore. One side of the center ceramic was tan and looked like a "thin layer" of the ceramic was peeling. other side was white. Maybe i can borrow my brothers hd camera and get some pretty pictures. Doing the plugs isnt a big deal,as it costs like 12 bucks and a hour of my time. Wires seem to be in ok shape.

Speaking of wires....Anyone have any resistance specs for them they can give me? They aren't arching through the insulation yet as i played around the other night with a spray bottle of water in the dark and didnt see any.

I thought the gap was to be .035 or a little less? .040 seems like it would be running hot & burning away the electrode & ground strap.

Gap is 0.45 on my Gm service manual ... Let me check again

Edit: Vin A is 0.60 Vin R 0.45 Vin Z is 0.35 Vin w 0.45

I know the gap should be .35. I was just stating what it is as of now...at least on that 1 plug. Just makes me curious on why the center ceramic is peeling.

Peeling because it's getting freaking hot. Maybe some oil contamination which will conduct heat, is helping it.

I don't like changing plugs in Blazers. So I run AC Delco platinum plugs. may last set went 90,000 miles when I sold it & I think they are still in the truck. I sold it to a guy I know. So they are good for 100,000 miles.
On my 98 Blazer I bought this spring I just put in a set of AC Delco & the gap was .045

I did a plug change no to long ago and it was running like crap. It was my fault as I never checked the gap when doing the change out. Once it was on the lift prior to going on a trip I checked the codes and it stated it needs .60. Once tuned to the proper gap its been running smoother.

So point of the story, check the codes and gaps prior to tossing in plugs.

Makes me think about my timing advancement (6*),and my ignition upgrades is causing it to run lean possibly and burning hot. Hmm. strange thing is It smells rich,its always smelled that way. You would think it was running rich,but plugs were clean.

plug gap on mine is 35. which i always check pregap on plugs as they are never right.
