Evacuate and recharge

What is the reasonable and customary charge for a repair shop to evacuate and recharge my air conditioning system?

I got mine done free by a family friend.... But I think 2-3 cans were used and each can is like 8-10 bucks.... So in materials you might be looking at 30 dollars and the hour or two its gonna take (lol really, I know)

But they should vacuum test it too.... I imagine it wouldnt be too expensive....

Thanks, I had a shop quote me $129.00. That sounded a little high.

This sounds right, At the tech school I go to they dont charge customers for labor and a recharge costs about $70. But Up here shops can charge what they want because its illegal to sell refrigerant in containers less than 15lbs. You have to be Automotive A/C Certified just to touch an A/C recovery machine.

Where I live it would be at $150 for a repair shop to do that. You also need to be certified and have a proper license here to evacuate and recharge a system.

THe shop I used to go to would charge me $75 for an evac and refill if I provided the 3 cans of r134.

Thanks everyone, got it done by a friend with a repair shop. He charged me $50 and my air is blowing cold. Just installed a new compressor, evaporator and orifice tube. apparently the vacuum pump we used didn't do the job. All is well now.
