First Blazer (seeking advice)

hi i just registered to this forum because in 2 days i will be purchasing a 98 blazer, my first one
it has 153xxx miles on it. im not sure what trim it is. its an a/t. the owner says he hasnt had anything go out or need replacing on it, which is what im here to ask. are these things notorious for anything specifically breaking? i have a limited amount of money to spend (about 500 a month after personal expenses) and 2000 i will be setting aside for any major issue. am i in over my head, or should general maintenance be enough? thanks.

When I first picked mine up about a week or so ago here is what I done.

Belt tensioner (not needed but was annoying) and belt

And that's all I got so far other than upgrades and things to add. It's a good truck!

Nah you will like the truck. The parts are cheap if you are a do it yourselfer, its easy to do almost anything with help from here and a little reading. Im into mine for quite a bit now, but thats the idea.

If its mechanically in good shape, go for it. These are great trucks.

If you cna turn a wrench, we can walk you through just about any repair.

I've never really heard of any major complaints and if something does break they are pretty cheap fixes and from everything I've done so far everything has been easy to work on.

Theres a sticky thread in this forum that will actually tell you everything you need to know about common problems with Blazers. Now, don't let the list give you second guesses about buying the truck. Trust us, Blazers are great vehicles and if you like working on vehicles they are cheap and easy enough to work on and getting parts is fairly easy. Good luck with yours and welcome to the forums...
