Really? I expected a little better for some reason. That's about what I get with a '99 4x4. It will top 18 on the highway and even almost 24 on the interstate. But if it gets a whiff of city driving for either, it plummets. Then again my old TBI 4.3L S10 only got about 8. All the time.

If you search the forum, there should be a poll with a lot of mileage figures and a few possible ways to improve it

With a slipping trans I'm getting 12.7-14.3 city driving, so I would think if you drive halfway easy on the throttle, 15 is very easily attainable.

Got a doubt ! (don't mind me a newbie in this stuff )... does not the mileage depends upon the speed ?

wagonwheel1989 May 26, 2011 04:51 AM

the less stop and go you do the more mpg you get...keep a constant speed the better gas mileage you get

Wound up getting a Scan gauge II from AutoZone (set up for for the MPG, water temp, TPS, and air intake temp).

[Direct from Scan gauge was $169, AutoZone was $159. Add a $20 AutoZone discount (rewards card) down to $139 plus tax.]
