gas smell / gas leak

I've got a 2dr 4wd 96 blazer, and I've noticed a gas smell lately. Looking underneath, I've got a bit of gas dripping (very slowly) out from the cover thats over the fuel tank.

Any places where I should look first to seal this up? Filler neck tube, fuel lines, etc? Is this common, and is it an easy fix?

There are a number of fittings on the top of the tank that could leak. If the tank has been dropped for servicing the pump, etc in the past, it is very common for the front vent to be forgotten and subsequently broken.

It only seems to leak under pressure. It leaves a small gas stain when its parked. The stain is the same size if its parked an hour or all day, so its not leaking all the time.

This sounds like a pressure fitting seeping to me. I've never dropped a tank on a blazer or s10. Does anyone have a link to where I might see some pics of the job so I know what I'm getting into? Any special tools?

So it looks like a fuel tank drop is in my future. I know this subject has been covered, does anyone have a link to a favorite thread to make this chore less awful?

I had the same problem. I replaced all the fuel lines running along the frame and when it still leaked, we dropped the tank. Sure enough, the top of the tank on the drivers side where it butts up against the frame looked like a cheese grater. If it does end up being one of the lines that are connected to the fuel pump, be careful not to lose any of the o-rings. One of mine dropped out and we didn't notice so when we turned the key, gas started spewing all over the place haha.
