Gas tank overflow leak after filling the tank normal?

I am new to the blazer world I just got a 2000 blazer white and I went and filled the tank and topped it off a couple time past the first pump shut off so then gas poured out the top of my tank for a like 30 sec and stopped is this normal? Or do you guys know why it happened?

umm... sounds like you over filled it.
Where did the fuel come out? the filler neck where you put the nozzle?
If so.. you over filled it. It does this to every car when you over fill.

No leakage is not normal - Look for a hole in tank - rust spot ect. - unhooked lines or bad lines / vapor return, fuel return, vent line or the O ring under the sending unit/fuel pump - u might want too add this too your ride - i think it's a good idea too have one even with no leaks
