This is gonna hurt!

Dropped the black beast off at the Chevy guys for it's major service (100,000km) 108k actually. Instructed them to do full tune up & service.

Change oil in front & rear diffs. (Tranny & transfer case & steering fluids were done a short while back).
Change engine oil, filter etc. Clean air filter.
Not sure what the tune up will involve part wise other than new plugs - they don't seem to think I need new plug leads, rotor & cap but we'll see.
Flush & replace brake fluid.
Replace front sway bar bushings.

Probably in for around $1500 - $2000 kiwi. Yea, I know but this is New Zealand & I've got a non standard vehicle. Although I'd rather call it a "special" vehicle! LOL

Fortunately, I don't have any repayments on the truck so I should survive this.

I don't know your situation, but why not do all that yourself? it's all pretty basic and straight forward. and it'd save you alot of money in the mean time.

yea my truck needs all of that... I'll probably end up doing it myself. it is tempting to let someone else do it all other than the price

Man, I could do all that for you for $300! lol that's the issue with having a "special" car.

Dude, you could get a killer stereo or take a trip with the money you would save doing that all yourself. None of that is hard to do at all. That whole list would cost me about 300 bucks and a day of my own labor.

DO IT YOURSELF

I don't have the tools or a half decent place to work on the truck. Besides the weather is crap too. Just easier to let someone else do it. Also, replacing parts is one thing, but I'm not particularly good at diagnosing problems i.e. why I'm only achieving 250km on about 53 ltr of gas.

Anyway, all done. The bill was not ready, so once I get it I'll drop in & pay them.

Replaced:
Plugs & leads
Thermostat - engine was running too cold they say.
CAI - the plastic air filter on the carb was split on the underside.
Engine oil & filter.
Diff oil front & rear.
Front sway bar bushings.

Drives much smoother now & I'll fill up in the morning & see how far I can go on a tank this time.
