Hood scoop installation ideas
So,
Purchasing a complete hood is around 500 bucks and i will never afford that. so im thinking i will just get the scoop and rather than having it put on normally i.e. bondo ect i think i will just put it on with rivets or bolts. something along those lines. whatever is most sturdy. i do realize some sanding will probably be in order because if my memory serves me correctly the hood will come in with square ruff edges. Imo i think it will look cool, nice and rugged looking. Ideas? Suggestions? :icon_doh: Brian, |
From what I have been told buy a pro body guy, you rivet the scoop in place, sand some of the rough stuff down, bondo over the rivets and where the scoop meets the hood, sand, prime, paint.
So, you basically have it right. What are you looking at for a scoop? Ram air scoop? the Cowl Induction style? |

I like. I want to do a cowl on my truck some day. Something low like on the new Camaros.

I would say, save it up and get a cowl hood.... I know this thread is not asking about that, but it being a one piece hood will look much better in my opinion, plus if you just get some cheap cowl for say around 50 bucks....

I know its like 300-400 for the hood plus shipping, I had one (lol short story, no time to have it painted an installed and funds were short so it was sold) But the scoop might only be 50 bucks now, but how much prep and word is needed? If you have some skills, you could pick up a junkyard hood for 30-80 bucks and then custom build it yourself.... Just making sure its 100% what you want to spend... Goodluck!!!! |
