How to close sunroof when stuck open
The sunroof retracted and would not come out of its recess back in the roof. Removing the headliner gives a better view, but does not allow access to unbolt the window. Removing the sunroof motor does not free up friction in the drive mechanism enough to pull the glass closed manually.
To run the motor manually, remove the power cable from where it connects in the overhead harness. Insert 2 pins to each terminal and jump the motor to 12v + & - to pull the roof closed. Apply power quickly to ensure the polarity is correct; if not, reverse and try, try again. The sunroof switch tested ok. The problem must be in the module which controls motor function to the retracted, closed, and tilted positions. There were many posts and videos from people whose sunroofs were stuck open, but no simple fixes shown like this one! Hopefully it helps someone. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...b85a0691b5.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/blazerf...16ce96c017.jpg |
