How wide is a K5?

I'm thinking about buying a K5 off of ebay....

I'm gonna need to know How wide the K5 (1986) is, so I can rent a tow dolly...

Somebody help me out.

For the 73-87 K5's the F/R track is 65.75" / 62.75" from center line of tread to center line of tread. The width of the tires stock tires could be 225mm (8.86") or 235mm (9.25"). So taking the worst case scenario, the outside width of the front axle would be ~75". You should try to find a dolly with at least 3" of additional clearance per side if you can so something in the 80-85" width. Most rental dollies have a maximum width of 72-75" though so this may not be possible. You may have to step up to a car hauler type trailer which should have the width and capacity to haul the truck and would be better for the truck as well if it is 4wd.
