Instrument cluster and radio problem
I have a 2001 blazer Ls that all of a sudden my tach, speedometer, odometer, gas and temp gauges along with the radio stopped working . I tried all the fuses that wasn’t it . Can it be a bad cluster causing it

I had something like that happen to me when my radio stopped working due to what I suspect was a short from a couple nickles the previous owner (or their kids?) put into the CD slot. On mine one of the fuses kept being blown. To diagnose it, I took off the dash and disconnected the radio and the fuse no longer blew. When I removed the radio, I found the two nickles rattling around inside. I then went to a wrecking yard and got a replacement OEM one. FYI, the remote cassette player and I believe also the remote CD changer get power from the radio.
That you have no blown fuses is weird to me. But they are all on the same circuit as evidenced by my experience. If it is an issue with the radio and you go with an aftermarket replacement, do your research and install it correctly. There are many threads of people who really messed up their wiring systems and got a lot of weirdness in their electrical system because they just hacked into the wires to find one with +12V. |
