Man..my dad wants to sell his blazer.

My mother mentioned to me that my stepdad wants to sell his blazer because my mother is getting a nice used car. He will have no use for it since he will get his truck shes been driving back. His blazers exterior and interior is in mint shape, front end is clean and the chassis barely has a spot of rust. Only problem is everything leaks since he doesn't do any work on his vehicles unless i do it lol.

The valve covers leak, oil cooler lines, tranny pan, speedo oring, rear tranny seal, and it needs balljoints and a control arm bushing done. nothing really too expensive just alot of small stuff. It runs great, shifts firm and just a pity to see it go. Im going to try to talk him into selling it to me,i just dont have the funds. He wouldnt want much,if anything il either sell mine or (yes,im gonna say it) crush it (il sell the motor, tranny, and all the other good stuff). Mine is a little rusty, and just nowhere as good as it should be. Even though it runs like a bat out of hell.

What should i do? He couldnt get alot out of it due to all the leaks etc,and the casual person would see that as $$$$ fix.

I think first thing you should do is speak with him and at least find out if he would be willing to sell it to you. If so...Why not see if he would let you work for the difference you cant afford to pay in cash? Or maybe even trade your car plus cash. If you want something bad enough you will find a way. But if your afraid you cant afford to buy it, then how are you gonna be able to afford the parts it needs? You must think long term when a vehicle needs that much repair. No it may not seem like too much, and you may be able to do the work yourself, but the cost of parts add up FAST.

Bah, ive got a 300 dollar blazer in my garage that ive sunk thousands into and never driven since... If you want it bad enough, you will find a way to get it or keep it. Ive towed that thing allover when i moved, buy stuff for it even though i get crap from the wife for it, and it sits...

Like he says, speak with the old man about it. Sounds like you are a young guy, so talk to him. He may just be waiting for you to man-up and ask...
