MPG Curiousity
I recently changed the radiator, transmission fluid and filter and transfer case fluid. Before the change I was averaging about 220-240 miles a tank in town, and 260-280 on the highway. Now that I have done the changes I listed above, I'm averaging 230-250 in town and 280-300 on the highway.
That is like a 2MPG increase from before the work. To me this sounds a little bit ridiculous. I never would have thought that I would see an improvement, let alone an improvement like this. What you guys think or have you experienced something similar? |
Try figuring out you actual MPG rather than going by the tank. Though, that may be difficult being as it appears you didn't do that prior to changing fluids.

I actually did that a good bit...poor college kid was worried about MPG haha. City was anywhere from 14-16...highway was 15-17. I did the math from the gas book I keep after the work and got this: city: 15-17 in town and 18-20 on the highway

I would guess the fluids were low before

thats pretty good MPG. I'm averaging 14mpg in a 50% town and 50% highway commute to work.
