Need Help

I have a 2001 GMC Jimmy 2wd. I had new tires put on and had it aligned recently. I noticed that it was pulling to the right and it has gotten worse. When I brake it pulls right. Now when I turn I hear a skidding noise. Anyone have any ideas????

Thanks in Advance!!
JT

Sounds like a sticking caliper. Did you do brake work recently? Have you noticed a drop in mpg? Jack up the truck and spin the tires, you should be able to spin it fairly easily.

I agree with cat. You can also tell by if your wheel is really hot. DO NOT TOUCH IT!! You can tell by just waving your hand slightly away from it. If the caliper is sticking, that wheel will be very very hot and will burn you instantly (also depends on how long you drove it for, but still becareful!)

Thanks....

Did recently put new pads on the front.

Ok, be sure to grease the slipe pins and also the metal shims the pads travel on. If that doesn't help the piston may have siezed. And you will need a new caliper.

Or you didn't take the cap off the brake reservoir when you pushed the piston back for the new pads. Try removing the tire, removing the brake reservoir cap, take the caliper off & push the piston back. Possibly bleed the brakes too & you might as well do it properly - start at the PS rear 1st, then DS rear, then PS front & finally DS front.
