New in Virgina, need help with Blazer
Hi, I'm Maggie,
I have a 2001 Blazer, the LT edition and I love it, but I have to sell it immediately because I am moving over seas (husband is army) and I wont have a need for a car. My worry is I wont get what its worth because of the time crunch I am under. On top of that I JUST got this thing less than a year ago and recently finished replacing all the problem parts. It's in the best condition it could be and now I have to part with it. :( Any suggestions as to how to handle this situation? Any specific place I should focus on trying to sell it through? thanks. |
you'll get the most money for it selling it yourself. try posting it on craigslist, maybe a classified add in the paper and on ebay

How long are you gonna be gone?
If it's an option, most storage rental places will let you park it there for a few bucks a month. Just an idea. |
Its a 3 year tour, so selling it will end up being the better option simply because I wont have anyone (that I trust) to care for the car in my absence. Are there Blazer car clubs that meet up like the mustang clubs do? I would like to put my car out there to advertise but I am really uncomfortable leaving it anywhere that is out of my sight. I posted an ad on Craigslist and got one reply but the guy backed out because I didnt want to drive the car to him and a few other things... it seemed shady.
I'm debating on leaving it on base in the "lemon lot" where most people sell their cars before they deploy, problem is I have seen them sit for months on end and I dont have that long. Im asking about 1500.00 less than what its worth in "good" condition too. |
You shouldnt have a problem getting 1500 smackeroos for your '01 in great shape. Thats a good deal to me, I think thats about 1490 of my dollars :p Thats a cheap price, so it should go quick I would think.
Hit craigslist, kijiji (if its in the states) and other local buy sells. Park it with a sign in the window too with the price stated on it. Darn I would take it from ya, cept its 3000km+ away and your speedo would get me in trouble quick! Good luck selling it. |
thanks for the advice. i hit up kijiji and craigslist, ill resort to ebay if time gets that limited. if i cant sell it i will just leave it on base and cross my fingers.
korea is a pretty big distance to conduct a car sale from so i am hoping i can sell all 3 of my cars before i leave! thanks again! :) |
I wouldn't leave it on base, after a period of time, (navy is 30 days I believe), they will tow it to impound and then in 3-6 months if they can't get ahold of you they will go ahead and auction it off.
That's the policy on the navy bases here in hampton roads anyway, I am fairly sure the army will be similar. |
