How are you guys calculating your MPG? Are you manually doing the math or going by the overheard display?
|
I manually do mine. Fill up, reset the trip, drive, fill back up, divide miles traveled by gallons put back in the tank. This only works if you fill back up each time. Some people just guess they are at half run to empty then put a certain amount back in then do the math that way which is wrong.
My overhead display is always dead on how much gas I burn but the mpg part is always 1-2 mpg lower than what it should be because my speedo is off a little. Which you also have to account for. Mine is 6% off so thats 6 miles I add to every 100 I go on the trip |
I did a check with, and without the computer. Found the computer to be quite accurate. Stock rims, and OEM size tires.

I just checked my mileage today, 2000 ZR2, I live about ten miles from town and the average city/hwy driving is 17.6 mpg. It has 170k and i baby it most of the time.

average is around 13 combined. strictly in town it's 11.2, and strictly on highway it's 20.8 by last calculation. i was towing a 2800lb trailer and managed 13.1 on the highway.
1996 Blazer 4dr, 4x4, auto, 4.3, 4.88, 35" tires, 10" lift Its a fairly mountainous area where i live. 1500' range to get over during any highway driving. avg highway speed is 60mph(50-80mph). fairly aggressive driver... |
04 Blazer, 4dr, 2wd. I spend about 70 percent of my miles on the highway and the remaining around town. I usually drive about 10 mph over the speed limit. I'm not the a teenager anymore, but I don't drive like grandpa either.:icon_rally: I usually get in the 18-20 mpg range.
|
Highway driving at 80mph I get about 18mpg. In town, as low as 13.

1999 4.3L V6. 4wd all stock.. for now. I was getting around 10.5 then I ran fuel conditioner and now i'm getting about 11-12. I plan on putting some seafoam in it and changing all the filters soon. I have been a little more passive with my driving lately, trying to save gas.
