The AVG MPG on my ceiling column says I have an avg of 18 MPG. I've only had it since 117K though, so my driving could be a little different. I have noticed though, on the highway at 70MPH with cruise control, I've been sitting pretty at 25-27 MPG. This bitch is stock and leaks oil. The Instant Econ could be broken too though.

I'll attempt the method in the OP at my next fillup

tried the method and it came out to 18-19 on a half a tank. Seems about right

2000 2wd that my other half drives, mixed road and town and averages at least 20 mpg. On the road and it will do around 23 mpg. And with 190,000 miles and all things factory, too.

1997 4wd gets around 15 mpg but I only use it in town mostly, easier to park than my Silverado. Out on the road it will do around 19-20 though. 208,000 miles on it.

Finally got around to really figuring out what kind of mileage I am getting in the Jimmy
1993, factory, 191,000 miles, 4wd. was getting 22 on this trip up north, mixed highway and city. I was shocked.

When it was running before my gas tank woes, I was pushing average 16.5. I drove it to North Carolina (Winston-Salem area) from Philadelphia area PA, and got 26 highway. I was kind of surprised.

1998 Blazer, 4.3 Vortec, 4wd, 4door, stock everything.
95-98 octane.
50/50 highway, small roads.
Seldom 4wd or city. The highways around my town has speed limits of about 50-60 mph and that is mostly my cruising speed. On the small roads my speed varies from 30-50 mph.
18-23 MPG depending on load and how heavy my foot tends to be ;)
Normally it's around 22 MPG.

beating the EPA

I get significantly better than EPA estimates (below) with consistent 18+mpg city/23+mpg highway. I'm a conservative driver, keeping acceleration moderate, speed low, and tire-pressure high.

I get 12, but on a recent trip to the scrapyard, with 30 minutes on the interstate with 60 pounds of scrap, and 40 minutes on the way home with half state highway half interstate (Got lost), I almost got 18!
