overdrive and towing
 
Can anyone tell me a mechanic told me different vehicles can handle it and some cant. Is it safe to tow in overdrive without damaging my baby 20014wd 4.3. I tow a 2500 boat and trailer have been driving it in just drive tos fine but sucking so much gas unreal. can i safely tow in overdrive without damage Thanks for any hep Brian

We've discussed this before. So long as the transmission isn't continually hunting for the proper gear, you should be fine. Once you start to see it bounce between OD & 3rd, just kick it down to 3rd and wait for more level ground.

On another note, if you are towing with your truck, an auxilliary transmission oil cooler is a must. B&M coolers have a cold bypass built in which will keep warm up times the same while allowing for additional cooling when necessary.
