Pulled a 95 Dakota 5 hours with 01 Blazer
 

I moved from Iowa to Wisconsin and pulled my 95 Dakota up with my blazer. First U-Haul wouldn't rent me a dolly because the Dodge weighed 3300 pounds and the blazer weighed 3200 pounds. So I called another U-haul place on the other side of town and told them I was pulling a 91 Cavalier. I put the Dodge on with the back tires on the dolly because it was cold and snowy outside and I didn't feel like taking off the drive shaft. It pulled pretty good but it was searching for OD so I just left it in 3rd the whole way, and the check engine light came on about 20 min in, but shut off after about 20 min after unhooking. There was snow on the road and it sucked. But still managed to keep er steady at 65ish the whole way. Took 2 tanks of gas to get about 320 miles. But got er up here without a problem. Little sketchy on the bumps going over an overpass. Anyone else pull anything and have the check engine light come on? I'm assuming it was just because the computer was wondering what the heck was going on and why it was under such a load.

Thats kinda weird that the check engine light came on.

I remember when we used to pull my dads trailer on his blazer...

Then one dad my dad decides to move about 1500 lbs of 50 cal. gun ammo and he loaded it one one side, He wasn't really thinking and put a lot of light stuff on the other side of the trailer.

Well once he got out of town it started to rock back and forth, so instead of hitting the brakes on the trailer he hits the brakes on the truck...

The trailer then came unhitched and slammed into the tail gate of the blazer and then they both went into the ditch...

The trailer was totaled and the blazer needed a new tailgate... The trailer had holes in the walls form the ammo boxes being thrown around lol, each box probably weights 45 lbs lol. He doesn't think stuff trough too much lol.

Just curious as to why you didn't pull the Blazer with the Dakota. I believe the blazer has a "disable mode" for towing

Because the Dakota is just a little 2wd reg cab. And it was right after that big snow storm that dropped over a foot everywhere. So I chose to pull the 2wd with the 4wd lol.

Just curious why your dad had that much 50 cal. gun ammo? :)

Idk lol he just had it, he is kind of a survivalist lol... But last year we sold it all to buy my blazer...

My uncle is the same way. Tons of guns and ammo. Lot's of non parishable food stocked up in his basement, water purifiers and what not. He even bought a house on top of a hill because he said he has a better vantage point encase something would happen. I know where I'm going if something does happen though lol.
