Quick Question for Canadians & Americans

We had a little debate at work today about some laws in Canada and how they apply to tourist from the U.S. The drinking age in canada is 18 isn't it? Well could an 18 year old from the U.S. with a passport and whatnot travel into Canada and purchase liquor? Or go to a Bar and drink? What is the legal limit in your parts of Canada? How do you Canadians feel about the drinking age in Canada?

We would routinely go for overnights in Montreal, Canada when in college. It wasn't too long of a trip. All of us were over 18, but under 21 at the time. No problems buying alcohol or getting into clubs/bars/etc. Probably really depends on the province.

Not too long before those "quick" trips to the north become a thing of the past though...

Alberta and Quebec are the only 18s, I think... The rest are 19.

That's basically how it works for us in Texas, except we use Mexico. 18 is (or was)legal in Mexico, we went to a place called Set 'Em Ups and slam a $100 on the table and drink all night on that $100. That is back when I used to drink, I turned 21 and lost my interest in it.

Well thanks for all the information. I guess I was right. Some people at work were saying that they treat americans with american laws, but I said, if you go to a different country, you must obeye their laws. Thanks again.

Ok, I found out that Manitoba is also 18. Here is a guide of all countries. Just kind of interesting.
