rear axle bearings

so, i decided to tackle the rear axle bearings last night and to my surprise, they weren't too bad to do. I was worried about getting into the diff and taking things apart, but after looking into it a little before I opened it up, it actually wasn't that bad. the hardest part was getting the bearings out with a slide hammer, the longest part was cleaning up gasket surfaces. start to finish was about 3 hours and that wasn't too bad. So, to date I have done t-case rear output seal, pinion seal, rear bearings and seals, idler arm, front sway bar bushings and end links. all i have left to do it the front axle seals and passenger door pins. Oh and I took off the non cold air-cold air intake and put the factory airbox back on to see how much better my fuel econ will be. i will either sell the CAI or trade for a k and n for the factory box. I might make a shroud for the CAI if I can find some time. thanks for all the good posts on this site, its a big help.

The rear bearings aren't too bad, as long as you have the right tools. When I did mine, I had a tiny little 2lb slide hammer, and some janky hook deal I was trying to make work. After jacking with it for two or three hours, I rented a 5lb slide, and the bearing puller. Two hits, it was out!

Needless to say, I know own a 5lb slide, and the bearing puller!!
