Saving a '72 tomorrow

Hi everyone! Newbie here! My name is Lee. I'm from San Antonio.

Tomorrow, I will probably take possession of a 1972 Blazer parked in my neighbor's yard by his nephew (the owner) in 2004, WITHOUT A TOP! I've been trying to buy the thing all these years, and he finally said "yes" (only because the home is selling and he lives many miles away). Anyway, I will go give it a good "look over" tomorrow and purchase it unless I find some serious landmines.

Are there specific "deal killer" areas (eg: specific areas of the chassis frame, windshield frame, etc) that I need to be wary of? Like I said, it's been at the mercy of mother nature for roughly 20 years; fortunately we don't get a lot of rain here, and he had "rhino-lined" the floors of the bed and cab shortly before it was parked. Engine (a SB400) has 500 miles on a rebuild by one of my favorite engine builders here in my town. Also, I know how to re-hab the average multi-year abandoned vehicle; so I'm guessing a blazer will be similar with the addition of the transfer case oil change.

All warnings, recommendations and suggestions/questions are very welcome and warmly received!

I'll add pics tomorrow.

Thanks for having me here.... I promise to be polite (at least most of the time https://blazerforum.com/forum/images...on_biggrin.gif)!

-Lee
