So i just changed the gasket and oring on the oil filter adaptor..pos..
Just a fair warning on whom has not done the gasket and orings on the oil filter housing on the block on the 4x4 box models ....Its a royal pain in the butt.No room at all. You have to drop the front driveshaft, and have a little 4"x4" hole to work with. 2 main problems that make it worse is the bolts are a loose fit,so they fall out while trying to bolt it back in place,I fixed this by wrapping 2 layers of black electrical tape under the head of the bolt and pushing them into the adapter. No more slide outs...and i had to use a tiny bit of silicone to keep the gasket in place..Other then that...it was alright. If you could just fit 2 hands in there! :icon_doh:
/done with rant. Anyone else banning themselves from doing this job again? lol:icon_teeth: |
what year has these? Are you talking about where the oil filter or oil cooler lines connect to the block?
|
I THINK 88-94
Im talking about where the lines run down from the filter(behind the driversside headlight) to the block. The little housing the lines run into. |
Just be glad it is DONE. That is what I like is knowing it is DONE. Glad you got it fixed.

Ehh. it may not be done now. it still has a very small leak between where the lines meet the adapter,i replaced the orings and its still leaking. Its not a big leak, but its wet again. I may just say screw it and put in some oil every few weeks. It'll keep the oil clean anyways.

Still learning my '97, 2wd. Mine has a small leak in the remote oil filter area, or the lines leaving it. Probably needs one of those 'o' rings. Just one of those things I'm monitoring. Not bad at all for 207k miles.
