spare tire carrier?????????

what does it take to get a spare tire carrier like what you see on zr2's to work on a regular 4dr blazer???????? is it a matter of drilling a couple holes and mounting it or is it more technical then that???????? if possible to do this were could the tire carrier be found to buy???????

HELP:)

You should be in New Zealand. Our 4 door Blazers come stock with & without the spare hanging on the back like your 2 doors.

I'm pretty sure there is more then drilling two holes, try searching for it. I remember seeing something a while ago when I considered doing it as well. It might just be a couple steel weights to disperse the weight of the carrier.

Well since I have a tire carrier I guess I can give a little bit more information

I recently took off the tire carrier and strike plate to repaint them and behind them, guess what, steel anchors, they look to be about 1/4" thick (kinda hard to tell). It's definitely not going to be easy to weld them one b/c it's going to be hard to get behind the panels. Another thing to consider is the cost of everything, the bolts the hold the tire carrier are about $8 each.

Good luck, if you still decide to do it make sure to post pictures

decided not to do it

It's definitely more work then just drilling holes. The support mounts for the spare tire carrier on the 2dr's weren't built into the 4dr's (to my knowledge anyway). The spare tire carrier is in no way light either, so extra support would definitely need to be built in before attaching the carrier.
