Strength of components
I'm kind of afraid to take my jimmy off road. (2nd vehicle but a DD for me) I don't really know its weaknesses. So...
What have you broken on your 2nd gen???
What did you do and/or use to prevent it from happening again???
(Not looking for how to drive info)

Believe it or not, the stock components are pretty tough. Most folks who have problems with them either have cranked the tbars way too much or just have not greased the front end; IE: lack of maintenance.
Whether these individuals want to admit it or not, these two issues are the main problems with the front ends on these vehicles.
The third most common problem is running bigger tires and/or rims with the incorrect backspacing on wheels. Fourth most would probably be bashing the #@%# out of the vehicle and wondering why one has to replace parts so often.
An easy right foot and common sense will get you far on stock components. Knowing the limitations of the vehicle and your driving abilities will make it go further.

I've replaced 3 idler arms, 2 sets of hubs, two sets of cv axles, a bunch of ball joints, front shocks, and a tie rod, but I fit into ajbert's category of cranking my tbars to high and beating my truck so. you don't have to worry about cv axles, or cranking your torsion bars because you have coil springs in the front of a 2wd. I'd just keep an eye on your ball joints, those tend to wear out the fastest. As for 4wheeling just aviod places that require a lot of traction to get through such as deep mud and slippery surfaces. other than that you can do quite a lot with a 2wd
