Is it time to say good-bye?

I have a 2000 Blazer, 4WD - great ac - transmission only 3 yr old - no rust - runs . . . RAN great - 140k miles and I love this truck. Great work horse and still looks fabulous.

However . . . all four shocks need replacing, idler arm, pitman arm and last night, she overheated and I've been told today that the radiator is cracked and so is the intake gasket.

Keep in mind, I love this truck.

Is it realistic to have all these things repaired? What is the true longevity of these hard working machines? Can she keep on truckin' for another 50k if I invest in her repairs, or . . .

Is it time to say good-bye? :(

I say keep it and start to save up for a new daily driver...You can always re-build/buy a motor for it down the line as long as you have the car still. And if you love it that much, i say thats probably a good option but hey thats my 2 cents. Lets see what other people say lol

Depends on how much it costs. If is more than she is worth then you can get a new one. But if you really love the truck you may as well do what you can to keep it. Can you do any of it yourself? Might make it cheaper

that doesn't sound too bad, i'd go ahead and do it. and if you're nice on the beastm yes it will last another 50k easily

Id say replace all that except shocks and see how it goes. If it seems good and not too costly, then do the shocks. But thats just my opinion.

Man, you'll kick yourself if you sell her. She loves you. Don't turn your back on her in her time of need.

But really, if you like it, keep it and do the work yourself. If you don't know all the mechanical stuff, learn while you go. Buy a mechanics book for your truck and go for it man.

I'd fix her and you can easily get another 50k... if not 100k more. The 4.3 is a strong motor.

No!!! Fix it & keep it. But then I'm biased & here in New Zealand that model sells for around $12-14,000 (kiwi) that's about 7,500 US. So here it would be well worth the cost of repairs.
