What oil do you prefer

Greetings to you fellow Blazer owners. As this is my first post, I'm not sure what I'm doing. So a little background. My 91 S10 Blazer has been sitting in the garage for about 6 years.(Rebuild thread to follow, But don't hold your breath) The only thing I've done to it is drain the oil and after searching the web for weeks, have been wondering what brand of oil do fellow Blazer owners use? I'm leaning toward a synthetic.

I run whatever's on special at Autozoo... mostly valvoline or castrol... sometimes Pennzoil or Mobil. They have synthetic oil change specials that change every few months. Usually around $30 for 5 QTS and a filter. As long as its a name brand oil and you're running a good filter IMO you're good to go.

I used Pennzoil because it was on sale, I don't use synthetic though.

I use whatever is on sale at the time. That has been Pennzoil Ultra full synthetic, Valvoline full synthetic, or something of the sort. As long as it's full synthetic, they are really all about the same. No use in paying an $arm and a $leg for a brand name like Royal Purple when Advanced Auto Parts full synthetic motor oil is the same thing. Full synthetic is full synthetic no matter how you look at it. I've been running 5w-30 lately but have run 10w-30 from time to time depending on the season.

These engines are not at all picky about their oil. Use what makes you feel good and it will make the engine feel good.

Whatever "extended life" 10W-30 is well rated and inexpensive. Maybe I'd use 5W if I were in the Yukon or Alaska, but I have no need for it here.

i use whatever is cheapest on sale. These engines dont care, and as long as you keep it changed every 3k,(yes i still go by that even though you could go longer) Ive never had sludge issues. even with dollar store brand.

I use rotella T for dino its a great oil for all engines.I look for oil that has high zinc content.

Good for engine anti-wear, but tears up catalytic converters. :icon_neutral:
