will a 1st gen body fit on a late 80's blazer?

Hey guys I am going to be picking up a late 80's K5 on monday I had a big question.

I have always lover 69-72 body styles.

My question is will a 1st gen body fit on aa late 80's K5. I means its all the same 1500 frame right?

God I hope someone says yes, I can continue to build the engine and everything else and swap a body whenever I can find one.

Thus is what I want to end up with in a year,

Before i buy next weej whats the best way to get a 1st gen and what am i looking at spending?

The body mount locations are different for the 1st gens as compared with the 2nd gens. They changed things up sometime between 73 and 91 again as well... Why not just swap the motor/trans/etc into a 1st gen frame/body?

Where can I find a project first gen I really need a ride so I'm going to get the late 80s for now 4k for what I described in my intro not too bad

Not too sure where you could find a 1st gen... Craigslist or eBay maybe.

I paid $500 for my K5. About to pay $200 for a 1990 Suburban to use for parts and then to part out what is left.

Guess I'll have fun with this and look for a first then is there anyway to chop a late 80's model like a first ten and buy a soft cover for it?

You can cut the top off, but you have to find a donor full convertible to get the proper arrangement for the top of the windshield.

As far as the condition of my 74 K5, it has some rust, but it runs very well. It is 15*F outside right now and I can go out and start it up and drive it. Had to rebuild the carb to get it to run that well, but it still is amazing for a carb'd truck to be so good in the cold.

The Suburban has seen MUCH better days, but I am getting it for the freshly rebuilt 700R4 to use in my Chevelle and then I will be keeping the TBI 350 for possible use in my K5. A lot of other parts will be stored away for possible future use as well.

The frames for 69 - 72 Blazers are different than 73 and up. But that doesn't mean you couldn't MAKE it work. If you are wanting a fulltop, Blazers were made with full convertable tops up to the 1975 model year.

You can find them from time to time on Craigslist or eBay. Check THIS out for some info on a full convertible conversion.

Then check THIS out for a for sale thread on another forum which you could get some parts for this job.
