Winch bag, not Wench, winch
So you may have noticed I got a new winch. Putting together a tool bag of winch acc. so far ,tree saver strap, d-ring and pulley. Anything else I should include?

A sandbag or other weight to hang on the cable. It doesn't have to be heavy. I've even used a heavy jacket. Just something to make the cable or strap drop if it breaks or comes loose rather than let it fly.

Leather gloves, I found a couple spare shackles can come in handy, and a small folding shovel can be helpful just to move a bit of crap outta the way to get to a tow point if pulling something other than your own rig like a car stuck in a snow bank or something.

stake and a BFH

I also pack a 3" wide jerk strap, tow strap or whatever the proper
name is....its just some times simpler with a strap than Unwinding all that cable... |
wouldnt be a bad idea to keep a extra tow strap with you encase the tree is a bit farther then the wire

Those things are pretty neat. I don't have a winch but I normally keep a recovery bin or bag in my 4x4's, the things I normally keep in them are: A set of insulated cover-all's, a tarp or 2, some nice thick leather gloves, a couple of straps and short pieces of chain, several clevis's, and a small shovel. A good thing to have as well would be a thick rubber outdoor rug, could use it on your winch cable as well, or to sit/kneel on when needed.
