Default Is it woth the time and money?

So I've had an idea floating around in my head and the truth is it sounds as it my be a fun thing to drop a full 2012 5.3l engine w/ active fuel management into my 99' 2dr blazer. Now I know a lot of people are threading on LsX engine swaps but I'm in California and these C.A.R.B laws suck. But the law does stat that I can switch my engine to a newer engine so long as it has all the emission equipment installed correctly as well. Then its up to a referee! Now I can get my hands on that specific engine for about $3000 with only about 20000 miles on it, is that worth it? How about the mpg's? I have a 2007 Silverado with the same engine and it gets about 23 mpg on the highway, how much would this blazer give me? And last but not least, the power on demand of a V8!!!! What are you opinions?

If it's worth it to you, then go for it. If you're trying to fix it up and flip it, you're not going to get your money back. Your MPGs should actually improve.

ive been wanting to do this for years, to either a s10 or a old 80s fullsize truck.

getting the engine and trans installed shouldnt be that big of a issues its the gauges and wiring that scares me the most
