ZR2 vs 4X4 build
Hey guys,
I have read and understand all the differences that GM did to the ZR2 and understand that due to different suspension mounting points in the frame and a custom rear axle, you cant exactly clone one starting with a 4x4 model. With that being said however, Im not a huge offroading guy but I am curious as to some of the advantages and disadvantages either way. Like if for instance, you took a stock ZR2 blazer and put it against the same year blazer that was a 4x4 but had just enough of a suspension lift to fit the same 31s and everything. Im sure there might be quite a few advantages and disadvantages for either truck. Anybody care to chime in with their thoughts? |
For one, the cost it would to make a regular 4x4 into a zr2, probably would be cheaper to find a zr2. The biggest advantage the zr2 has over the stock 4x4, I think is the stance.
But it is doable to convert a 4x4 into a zr2 if your willing to cut and weld. Theres a thread on here of someone making a 4 door zr2. I've thought about it. Only because I'm thinking of keeping my stance smallish on mine. And the stance of a zr2 with the 2.5 RC lift kit is about it for me lol. Happy hunting |
Hands down I prefer the wider track of the ZR2 and yes I have both. My ZR2 is a very capable vehicle off road but I have put a too much time and effort in it for a payback except in enjoyment.
